Junior Sisk

Timmy Massey grew up in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains to a musical family.  His grandfather and mother played clawhammer banjo and with 5 older brothers he was influenced by many different styles of music from Merle Haggard to The Beatles.   It wasn't until he first heard Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs'  "Second Generation" album that he realized that bluegrass music was in his blood.   He started writing songs of his own at an early age and in 1995 was honored with the IBMA award for song of the year for "Cold Virginia Night"  recorded by Ronnie Bowman.   Since then many artist have recorded Timmy's material including Dan Tyminski,  Lonesome River Band,  BlueRidge,  IIIrd Tyme Out,  Ernie Thacker,  Carolina Road and The Churchmen.   Timmy is glad to be back singing and playing bass with cousin Junior Sisk,  as a member of Rambler's Choice.

Junior Sisk has lived most of his life in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia  where he listened to and played the music that was born there.  His songwriting helped The Lonesome River Band in its ascent to bluegrass stardom in the early 1990's,  but it was his lonesome,  haunting singing that earned him the devotion of traditional bluegrass fans a few years later as a member of Wyatt Rice and Santa Cruz.  Subsequently,  he assembled Ramblers Choice,  which released the acclaimed "Sounds of the Mountains" in 1998,  and contributed to the IBMA award winning "The Stanley Gospel Tradition".  A brief stint with The Lost and Found followed before Junior took over the lead vocal role for BlueRidge.  Junior has been nominated many times for Songwriter and Male Vocalist of the year.
